Antioch got a terrific performance from pitcher Yoshiaga Rin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Minneapolis Freeze. Minneapolis won the The Coal Mine contest, 3-2. Rin was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. The Freeze raised their record to 2-1.
This game went down to the wire. In the top of the ninth, Félix Herrera had a big at-bat. With two out, the Minneapolis shortstop hit a run-scoring single, to put his team up, 3-2.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Julián Flores.
