Wranglers Deal Horseman Painful Loss
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Bulldog Stadium. But Fernando Franco conjured up just enough offense to carry the Wranglers past the Amarillo Horseman, 3-2. Franco was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Reliever Jim Unknown picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. John Cosman took the loss. Wichita, now 64-95, holds 6th place in the Kade Stenson League Swinging Friar Division.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Wichita trailing 2-1, Franco hit a fastball from John Cosman for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Wranglers had a walk-off win.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Franco said.
