Aeropostales Win Again, Extend Streak to 6
|
In a tight contest at Stars Field, the Indian Wells Aeropostales edged the Champaign Chiefs by the score of 5-4. Indian Wells left fielder Shaun Sharp, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Mushanokoji Uchida was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Shih-k'ai Mi notched his 31st save in 36 chances.
Trailing 4-3, Indian Wells's fortunes turned in the bottom of the fifth inning when the 26-year old third baseman Juan Salgado lifted a first pitch fastball into the stands for a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put the Aeropostales up, 5-4.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Indian Wells manager Brad Anderson.
The last-place Chiefs have lost 4 straight games.
