Franco Helps Wranglers Run Win Streak to 3
|
The Wichita Wranglers stymied the Coronado Phantoms, 5-2, at Bulldog Stadium. Fernando Franco, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Wichita. Jim Unknown earned the win for Wichita. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Alberto Guzmán converted his 11th save in 16 tries.
Flexing his muscles for Wichita was the aforementioned Franco. The second baseman had a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first for the Wranglers. It put his team ahead, 3-0, and sent them on to victory.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Wichita skipper Claudio Rojas.
Wichita now has a 3-game win streak.
