Flash Fall Short at Des Moines
|
The Des Moines Spartans did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Fairfield Flash at Spartans Park. Nobody did more than shortstop Cole Roberts, who captured player of the game honors. Ed Lott picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-2. Juan Ramírez was tagged with the loss. Donald Hoover notched his 30th save in 32 chances.
Des Moines grabbed control in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, Teju Radia delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 4-3 in favor of the Spartans.
"We did enough to win," said Roberts.
With the victory, the Spartans record now stands at 81-65.
