The exploits of designated hitter Matt Wilkerson, who is tied for 3rd in the KSL in doubles with 33, helped the Albuquerque Cacti defeat the South Bay Arsenal, 5-2. Wilkerson was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Albuquerque, at 66-71, occupies 5th place in the Kade Stenson League Swinging Friar Division.
Wilkerson had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 slider from Raúl Coronado, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Cacti a 5-2 lead. It was the 22nd home run of the year for Wilkerson.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Wilkerson told the Albuquerque Gazette.
