The Fort Worth Cats knocked off the Scranton Escape, 13-5, at LaGrave Field. Yoriyuki Tanaka, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Fort Worth won. The catcher was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Rob MacKinney earned the win to go to 16-6. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts. The first-place Cats, at 88-49, now lead their division by 4½ games.
Bryce Rice was a key contributor to the win for the Cats. In the bottom of the second with no one out, the light-hitting shortstop stroked a single to right. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk.
"It feels good to get that win," said Tanaka. "Now it's on to the next one."
