Horseman Stymie Albuquerque, Take 8-1 Win
|
Amarillo Horseman starter Darryl Wallace kept the Albuquerque Cacti hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 8-1 win. Wallace, now 3-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. Earning his 1st save of the year was Mike Bunch.
The Amarillo win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Jordan Smith. In the bottom of the second, the Amarillo shortstop came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 2-0 lead.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Wallace told the Amarillo Daily.
The second-place Horseman lifted their record to 79-51.
