Banditos Solve Chiefs, 4-2
|
Champaign pitcher Paul Simpson gave the Banditos all they could handle, but in the end, Acapulco left Underdogs Ballpark with a 4-2 win. Simpson allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits over 6 innings. Aubert Licci earned the save, his 22nd, for the Banditos. Acapulco has 3 straight wins, Champaign 3 straight losses.
The Acapulco win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Kai Jolliffe. In the bottom of the sixth, the Acapulco third baseman came to bat and hit a run-scoring double. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.
"We put together a nice win," Jolliffe said.
