Cats Take Close Win Over Chiefs
|
The Fort Worth Cats topped the Champaign Chiefs by the score of 7-5, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Jayden Rossell. Rossell was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Cats. Fort Worth reliever William MacDougal picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Yo Fukuda was saddled with the loss. Diego Cruz got the save, his 3rd in 5 chances.
Rossell had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 sinker from Yo Fukuda, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Cats a 7-5 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Rossell.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Fort Worth manager José Parra.
The Chiefs, at 48-61, have lost 5 straight games.
