Escape Fall Short at Amarillo
The Amarillo Horseman faced a tough opponent in Scranton pitcher Melvyn Maisonneuve, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Horseman Field by a final score of 3-2. Maisonneuve went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Amarillo reliever Mark Smith picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mei-shan Chin shouldered the loss. José Gonzáles recorded the save for Amarillo, his 1st of the season.

One important at-bat came with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing Scranton hurler Charles Walker, Noel Griffin drew a walk. The Horseman went on to win.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Amarillo skipper Okitsugu Azuma.

The losses continue to mount for Scranton, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
