The Cacti had to overcome a fine performance from Acapulco pitcher Pedro Pérez to grab a 8-6 win at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Pérez allowed 1 earned run over 5 innings. Shu-yaan Qi picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Akihito Sakei was tagged with the loss. The 5th-place Cacti are now 49-55, the Banditos 48-56.
Kinnojo Iwamoto, who is tied for 6th in the KSL in triples with 5, aided the Albuquerque cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. For the game, the second baseman drew 1 walk in 5 plate appearances.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Iwamoto, "but we got it done."
