Banditos Come Up Short at Albuquerque
The Albuquerque Cacti scored a 5-4 win versus the Acapulco Banditos at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Albuquerque pitcher Gareth Scholes nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Shunji Kurota got credit for the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Izumo Ikarashi earned the save for Albuquerque, his 4th of the year.

With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the third inning, designated hitter Matt Wilkerson delivered big for the Cacti. Albuquerque was trailing 3-0 when he belted a 3-run home run.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Acapulco manager Barry Bowman.

Albuquerque is 5th in the Kade Stenson League Swinging Friar Division with a record of 48-55.
