The Coronado Phantoms faced a tough opponent in Acapulco pitcher Denny Goodwin, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Underdogs Ballpark by a final score of 6-5. Goodwin went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Coronado reliever Shiro Hatsutori was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Aubert Licci took the loss for Acapulco. Ajdir Kasakya notched his 20th save in 20 chances.

In the top of the tenth inning of a 5-5 tie, Coronado right fielder Júlio Ruíz drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It broke the deadlock and put Coronado on top, 6-5.

In postgame comments, Ruíz said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
