Baristas Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Chiefs
|
The Champaign Chiefs wasted an inspired, 5.1-inning effort from starter Jin-song Cheung, falling 2-1 to the Silver Lake Baristas at Orange Field. Silver Lake reliever Alfredo Crespo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Yo Fukuda took the loss. Dost Ghuman sewed up the save, his 16th.
Pedro Reyes's at-bat with two out in the top of the ninth was critical. The Silver Lake first baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put his team on top, 2-1. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Reyes.
The Baristas improve their record to 42-56 with the win over Champaign.
