Escape Come Up Short at Wichita

Wichita beat Scranton, 4-3. The win in part was due to center fielder Kawanari Takahashi, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Wichita has now won 3 in a row.
Had Darby Caples not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Caples hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Wranglers.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Wichita skipper Claudio Rojas. "I can't complain."
