|
Benefiting from Juan Ortíz's productive game, the South Bay Arsenal downed the Coronado Phantoms, 7-1. Ortíz was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Arsenal. Lee Barker, the winner, improved to 10-5. He held the Phantoms to 1 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. The Arsenal saw their record improve to 53-40.
Yoshihisa Kimura dealt the Phantoms a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and South Bay leading 1-0, Kimura hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Ortíz.
