Horseman Fall Short at Albuquerque
|
In a low-scoring game between Albuquerque and Amarillo, pitcher Alejandro Lafrosia was excellent. The Albuquerque right-hander was named the player of the game in Albuquerque's 2-1 win. Albuquerque reliever Gilberto González was credited with the win, to go to 1-2. Jackson Thompson took the loss for Amarillo. The Cacti now own a record of 45-47.
Late in the game, first baseman Neil Ruthman had a big at-bat for Albuquerque. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a run-scoring single off Jackson Thompson. The play gave the Cacti a 2-1 lead.
"The old adage is true," said Ruthman. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
