Earthquakes Drop Marauders, 7-2
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes knocked off the Maple Marauders, 7-2. San Francisco starter Paul Groulx pitched well enough to earn top player honors. Groulx went the distance for San Francisco. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. The Earthquakes, now 12-6, have been on a roll in the early going.
In the bottom of the first, Lorenzo Atilano took a changeup from Steve McBryde and pounded a 3-run home run to right. It put San Francisco on top, 3-0. For the game, Atilano was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"I'll be honest," said Groulx. "I was running on fumes at the end."
