Wranglers Stick Flash with 3-1 Loss
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Bulldog Stadium. But Gonzalo Fernández conjured up just enough offense to carry the Wranglers past the Fairfield Flash, 3-1. Fernández went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. James Morris got the win, improving to 6-7. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Callum Butler finished the game for Wichita and earned his 3rd save.
Fernández came through with some timely hitting for Wichita. With the score 0-0 in the bottom of the first and no one down, Fernández hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season made it 2-0, Wichita.
Fernández said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The Wranglers saw their record improve to 33-55.
