Big Day by Castillo Ignites Phantoms Win
|
The Coronado Phantoms easily defeated the Champaign Chiefs, 13-4, at Phantoms Field, with second baseman Jorge Castillo a main contributor to the win. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 7 for Coronado. Mitsukuni Kudo got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Scott Roberts sewed up the save, his 3rd.
In the bottom of the third, Jim Unknown hit a 2-run double for Coronado. The 1st double of the season for the Coronado catcher put the Phantoms on top, 5-3.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Champaign manager Rob Penn. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
The 5th-place Phantoms now have a win-loss record of 40-41.
