Horseman Trounce Cats, 10-3
|
The Fort Worth Cats and Amarillo Horseman brought some excitement to Horseman Field.
The Amarillo Horseman defeated the Fort Worth Cats, 10-3. Earning player of the game honors was second baseman Hafiz Wattu, who was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Amarillo reliever Hirotada Hori was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Bing-de Dee took the loss for Fort Worth.
Tied up with the Cats in the bottom of the fifth, the Horseman got a boost from catcher Yasuhiko Sato. With a runner on 1st, Sato saw a 1-0 fastball from Bing-de Dee and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Amarillo on top, 5-3.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Wattu told the Amarillo Daily.
With the win, Amarillo goes to 49-34, while the Cats fall to 55-29.
