Tight Tilt Goes to Spartans, 4-3
|
Des Moines Spartans starter Esteban Martínez was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Wichita Wranglers, 4-3. The winning pitcher was Martínez, now 6-6. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7. The Spartans are now 47-36, while the Wranglers fall to 32-51.
It could have been a different outcome for Des Moines, had it not been for Bill Holland, the 34-year old second baseman . Holland contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second inning to put Des Moines up, 4-0.
"We did enough to win," said Holland.
