In a close game at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the Fairfield Flash edged the Scranton Escape, 5-4. Fairfield first baseman Kieran Hurd earned the nod as player of the game. He went 2-2 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Fairfield reliever Yefim Merkushin picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Juan Núñez was saddled with the loss. At 45-35, the Flash find themselves in second place in the Kade Stenson League Lou Seal Division.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Fairfield trailing 4-3, Damian Louganis hit a fastball from Juan Núñez to left for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Flash had a walk-off win.

"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Hurd. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
