Spartans Come Up Short at Mdewanketon
|
Mdewanketon rode a decent outing from starter Mitsuo Kobayashi to victory over the Des Moines Spartans at Mystic Lake Stadium. The final score was 4-3. Mdewanketon is in 6th place in the Kade Stenson League Lou Seal Division with a record of 34-43.
The Sabercats got a big at-bat from third baseman Salvador Ortíz. For the game, Ortíz was 1-3 with a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 51st hit of the season gave Mdewanketon a 1-0 lead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Des Moines manager Clement Snow. "But we decided not to take it."
