Chiefs Deal Flash Painful Loss
|
The Champaign Chiefs faced a tough opponent in Fairfield pitcher Bi`nh Trieu, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Orange Field by a final score of 3-2. Trieu went 7.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Yo Fukuda picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-2. Matt McGill was tagged with the loss. Champaign is 6th in the Kade Stenson League Swinging Friar Division with a record of 32-43.
Coming to the plate with two out in the bottom of the tenth inning, Champaign second baseman Adam O'Dell had a chance to be the hero. Facing Fairfield pitcher Matt McGill with the bases loaded, O'Dell drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"This win should put a little bounce in our step," said O'Dell.
