The Fairfield Flash pounded the Champaign Chiefs, 14-0, at Orange Field. Fairfield first baseman Kohei Matsumoto had a solid game. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 6 for the Flash. Ramón Gómez picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-5. He struck out 9 in 7 innings. Fairfield has now won 3 in a row.
Matsumoto came through for Fairfield with a 2-run home run in the top of the first. He hit a full count cutter to right field, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.
