Tight Tilt Goes to Spartans, 2-1
|
The Des Moines Spartans got a magnificent performance from pitcher Brahmanida Raviraj, who muffled the Scranton offense en route to a tight 2-1 Spartans win at Spartans Park. In 5.2 innings, Raviraj surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Donald Hoover picked up the save for Des Moines, his 13th of the year.
José Morín's at-bat in the bottom of the third was significant for the Spartans. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Des Moines leading 1-0, the designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly.
In postgame comments, Morín told the Des Moines Today: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
Des Moines leads the Kade Stenson League Lou Seal Division by 2˝ games.
