Castillo Hits 2 home runs in Spartans Win
|
Des Moines catcher Luis Castillo had a 5-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 6-2 win over the Scranton Escape. Esteban Martínez picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-5. He struck out 5 in 5.1 innings. Des Moines goes to 43-30. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
Castillo contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Des Moines in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Castillo took a slider from Melvyn Maisonneuve and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Spartans to leap in front, 3-2.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Castillo told the Des Moines Today.
