Banditos Get One-Run Win at South Bay
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Acapulco Banditos and the South Bay Arsenal, pitcher Ton Kawano was the difference between victory and defeat. The Acapulco right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 Banditos win. Aubert Licci earned his 14th save in 17 tries. The 'W' lifts Acapulco's record to 35-38.
With Acapulco trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, the Banditos fortunes got a boost when first baseman Coy Jacobs turned a 0-1 fastball from Raúl Coronado into his 11th home run of the season. The hit scored 2 and put Acapulco up, 2-1.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Garfield Christian.
