Tornadoes Snatch Late Win
|
Kansas City overcame a superlative game from Paul Barrett to beat Eureka, 4-3. The Eureka pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Kansas City reliever Jon Lewis picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ernesto López was saddled with the loss. The win brings the Tornadoes to 8-10, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
With his team trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Curt Hall rose to the challenge. The Kansas City catcher got hold of a sinker from Ernesto López for a 3-run home run. The round-tripper put the Tornadoes on top, 4-3.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Hall. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
