Aoyama Lifts Spartans to 7-2 Win
|
The Des Moines Spartans downed the South Bay Arsenal, 7-2, at Cruz Bay Park. Shunso Aoyama led the way, going 3-for-4 for Des Moines. Qi-chang Ec, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 2-0. The Spartans bumped their record to 38-28 with this latest triumph.
Also making an impact was first baseman Paul Rice, who drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning for the Spartans. For the game, Rice went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Rice said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
