Acapulco Topples Coronado, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Acapulco Banditos and the Coronado Phantoms, pitcher Coy Jacobs was the difference between victory and defeat. The Acapulco right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 Banditos win. Acapulco starter Fred Campbell was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-7. Aubert Licci earned his 13th save in 16 tries.
Acapulco took a 3-2 lead on Jacobs's 6th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Scott Roberts in the top of the seventh, propelled Acapulco to the win.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Coronado manager Jeffrey Graham. "The effort was great."
The Banditos raised their record to 29-34.
