Sosa Leads Spartans to Win
Des Moines and Albuquerque duked it out at Albuquerque Sports Stadium and the Spartans came out victorious.

Armando Sosa was the difference-maker for the Des Moines Spartans in what turned into a shootout with the Albuquerque Cacti. Sosa earned the player of the game award after going 2-for-3 in the 11-9 Spartans win. Des Moines reliever Steve Keller was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Shunji Kurota. Donald Hoover was called on to finish, recording his 9th save.

Late in the game, right fielder José Morín had a big at-bat for Des Moines. In the top of the eighth, he hit a 2-run single off Shunji Kurota. The play gave the Spartans a 11-9 lead.

"This game had a little bit of everything," said Sosa.

Today's win puts Des Moines at 32-24, while Albuquerque falls to 30-26.
