Horseman Prevail, 3-2, Over Coronado

The Coronado Phantoms got a superb performance from pitcher Juan Vázquez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Amarillo. The Horseman won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Vázquez was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Noel Blackwell, the winner, improved to 3-2. He held Coronado to 2 runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Amarillo is now 27-21.
Bob McCullough helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run home run to give Amarillo a 2-0 lead.
"We were in it," said Coronado manager Jeffrey Graham. "We just didn't score enough runs."
