|
Fairfield Flash starter Alexis Garrett was in fine form against the Wichita Wranglers at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, leading his team to a 4-3 win. Garrett, now 5-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 3 earned runs. José Marino sewed up the save, his 5th.
The Flash got a big at-bat from shortstop Kevin Meyer. For the game, Meyer was 1-3. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 51st hit of the season gave Fairfield a 4-3 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Fairfield manager Gary Altman. "It's usually not just one thing."
The first-place Flash lifted their record to 28-21.
