Phantoms Go Down to Defeat, 5-3
|
Albuquerque designated hitter Matt Wilkerson played a vital role in his team's 5-3 triumph over Coronado. He was 2-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Albuquerque. Darren de Koning was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 4 walks and 10 strikeouts. Tsuneyo Kakutama recorded his 5th save for Albuquerque.
Wilkerson in the bottom of the second had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Cacti leading 1-0, he hit a bases-clearing double.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Wilkerson.
The Cacti move to 25-21 with the win, while the Phantoms drop to 25-21.
