Dedicated fans at Cruz Bay Park weathered the storm to watch their beloved Arsenal beat the Chiefs.
The South Bay Arsenal topped the Champaign Chiefs by the score of 6-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to center fielder Yoshihisa Kimura. Kimura was 2-3 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Arsenal on the day. South Bay reliever Rubén Marino was credited with the win, to go to 2-2. Jim Unknown took the loss for Champaign.
Kimura had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 cutter from Jim Unknown, he banged a bases-clearing double to left-center, giving the Arsenal a 6-3 lead. It was the 3rd double of the year for Kimura.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Kimura.
South Bay has a mark of 12-16 after the win.
