The Coronado Phantoms beat the Acapulco Banditos, 7-5, at Underdogs Ballpark. The Phantoms got a fine performance from left fielder Giampaolo Marcovicci, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The win lifts Coronado to a record of 13-11.
Doug Mullins took Fred Campbell deep with two out in the top of the fifth. On a full count fastball, Mullins drilled a solo home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season and put Coronado on top, 5-4.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Mullins told the Coronado Herald.
