Phantoms Get 6-1 Win Versus Acapulco
|
The Coronado Phantoms knocked off the Acapulco Banditos, 6-1, at Underdogs Ballpark. Spencer Meaker, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Coronado won. The second baseman went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Alberto Rivera, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 2-2. The loss lowers the Acapulco record to 11-12.
Tokuhei Taniguchi contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly. It was one at-bat that propelled Coronado to the win.
"Good win for us," said Taniguchi. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
