Albuquerque Wastes Great Game by Luna
|
Albuquerque designated hitter Guillermo Luna pounded South Bay Arsenal pitchers at Albuquerque Sports Stadium, but it was not enough to keep the Cacti from falling, 10-5. Luna went 3-4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Arturo Vega got the win, improving to 4-0. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. The win brings the Arsenal to 8-12, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
The Arsenal got a big at-bat from shortstop Manuel Marín. For the game, Marín was 1 for 4 with a walk. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 17th hit of the season gave South Bay a 3-2 lead.
"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Marín.
