The Des Moines Spartans dealt the Albuquerque Cacti a 9-4 loss at Spartans Park. Teju Radia was the star on offense. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Edgardo Félix earned the win to go to 1-2. He allowed 4 earned runs on 12 hits, with no walks and 8 strikeouts. Donald Hoover closed the door for Des Moines, picking up his 1st save of the year.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the third, Radia had a key at-bat for Des Moines. With the bases loaded, Radia, who is tied for 7th in the KSL in triples with 1, hit a grand slam home run off Gareth Scholes, making the score 5-1, Spartans.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Albuquerque skipper Jorge Velásquez.
The Cacti fall to 8-10 and continue their uneven start to the 2028 season.
