Berserkers Go Down to Defeat, 8-6
|
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Reynaldo Aguilera, the Havana Stogies defeated the Minnesota Berserkers, 8-6. Aguilera went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Stogies. Abdul Razzaq Kharoti earned the save for Havana, his 3rd of the year. The win brings the Stogies to 7-9, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Going deep for Havana was Gulloo Sandip. The right fielder had a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first for the Stogies. It put his team ahead, 3-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Sandip went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Sandip, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
