The Coronado Phantoms faced a tough opponent in South Bay pitcher Philip Smith, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Cruz Bay Park by a final score of 2-1. Smith went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Reliever Cipriano Sousa picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Rubén Marino took the loss. The Arsenal fall to 6-10 and continue their uneven start to the 2028 season.

Runs were at a premium. So, Jorge Castillo's at-bat with no one out in the top of the 16th was crucial. The Coronado first baseman hit a solo home run, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
