The Champaign Chiefs knocked off the Scranton Escape, 8-6, at Orange Field. Ashton Stanton, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Champaign won. The third baseman was 3 for 3 with 2 triples, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Yo Fukuda earned the save for Champaign, his 2nd. With the win, Champaign pushes its record to 5-4.

Had Amezwaru Ndururi not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Ndururi hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Chiefs.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Champaign Chiefs manager Rob Penn. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
