Marauders Lose to Toreros, 8-5
|
Maple shortstop Jean-Claude Petit pounded Cabo San Lucas Toreros pitchers at Field de Los Layendas, but it was not enough to keep the Marauders from falling, 8-5. Petit was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Phoenix Smith earned the win for Cabo San Lucas. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. The Toreros, now 2-0, have been on a roll in the early going.
Tim Buck said the idea of hitting a home run crossed his mind when he came to bat in the bottom of the seventh. Buck belted a 3-run home run to stake Cabo San Lucas to a 8-5 lead. His 3rd home run of the season came off Maple pitcher Khurshid Durrani.
"We all want to win," said Buck. "We all want to do our part."
