Earthquakes Turn Back San Diego, 5-3
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes defeated the San Diego Hops, 5-3, in Thurman Munson League action at The Brew Stade. Adam Kerr received player of the game honors. The 10-year veteran went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ryan Lane got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Jonathan Martin picked up the save for San Francisco, his 5th of the year.
San Francisco took control in the top of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, Juan López hit a 2-run single to make it 5-3, Earthquakes.
Kerr said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
The win brings the Earthquakes to 9-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
