It was almost a perfect day for Paul Rice.

The Omaha first baseman displayed a hot bat today, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Titans lost to the Manhattan Beach Patriots, 7-6. Rice told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle."

Omaha manager Bernard Jacq told the beat writers otherwise.

"There was no luck today," he said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together today, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well."

Paul Rice doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Chung Wu in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
