Weber hits 2 home runs in Tornadoes Win
Andrew Weber helped his team muscle past the Portland Beavers, 8-5. In the game, the Kansas City designated hitter went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Kansas City reliever Mehmood Dar, now 10-11. The loser was Alonso Esquivel. Michael Burton got credit for the save for Kansas City. It was his 32nd of the year.

Had Orlando Quiñones not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Quiñones hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Tornadoes.

In postgame comments, Quiñones told the Kansas City Observer: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"

The Tornadoes go to 68-67, putting them third in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division.
