Fitzgerald hits 24th home run as Bombers Squeeze Past Jersey
South Carolina beat Jersey at The Royal Court at Jersey Yards, escaping with a 9-8 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Michael Fitzgerald, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. South Carolina reliever Max Grant picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Julián Diéguez was saddled with the loss. The third-place Bombers have won 5 consecutive games.

Fitzgerald had a consequential at-bat in the top of the fifth for the Bombers. Coming up with a runner on 1st and South Carolina trailing 7-6, he hit a 2-run home run.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Fitzgerald said.
